The Release team has successfully completed the first stop of The Release Innovation Challenge Community College Tour. The tour in its second year is set to visit all 8 Community Colleges in Jamaica to educate and promote the benefits of being innovative in the fields of Technology, Music, Food and Fashion. The first stop took the team to Portmore Community College where the students enjoyed an expo, seminar and concert.

Executive Producer of The Release, Talisa Taylor is adamant that the tour will get bigger and better each stop. She said, “We have some amazing sponsors this year such as Lasco ICool Water and Flavoured Water, Konka Energy Drink, Lyrix Soda and so many more who have been working with our team to create a wholesome experience throughout the entire day. Students have so many activities to participate in at each booth and they learn a lot from the seminar”.

The Innovation Challenge is now open to all Community College students who have an invention. Taylor added “This year we are accepting entries up to December 7, 2018 on our website www.thereleaseja.com. Students who have an original idea that satisfies a need, one that is replicable at an economic cost and delivers some positive outcome whether it is tangible value, creation of a new market or a competitive advantage are eligible to submit applications”.

This year The Release will award the winning innovator with cash and prizes valued over $120,000.00 JMD. Information on the competition and remaining tour dates can be found on The Release website, www.thereleaseja.com and on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter @TheReleaseja. Students and staff can also watch highlights from each school visit weekly on The Release and view photos in The Jamaica Observer, the official print media sponsor for The Release Innovation Challenge Community College Tour.
